Welcome to the wonderful art of Judo! Our Cairns judo club focuses on our members and families first and for-most. As an entirely voluntary club, we are committed to introducing students to Kodokan Judo, fostering character development and promoting positive social values including Politeness, Courage, Sincerity, Honour, Modesty, Respect, Self-Control, and Friendship. At all times we do this in a club climate that aims for practice which is safe, supportive, inclusive and enjoyable. A little about us:
- we are located at Gordonvale on the South Cairns corridor. Find us here.
- we practice Judo which looks like wrestling in a white uniform with throws and hold-downs plus submissions for adults. Find more information about us here.
- we currently have about 70 active judo players, predominantly juniors aged 5-13 years, and with an even mix of boys and girls.
- we always welcome new members while at the same time doing our very best to look after our current members.
- we promote the development of children's physical literacy skills (and not just judo skills) which can be utilised in a wide range of other sports and life activities. What is physical literacy? To find out, click here .
- our club coaches and administrators include parents and professionals from right across the Cairns community.
- with qualified psychologists included in our clubs adult membership, we are mindful of the value of building social & emotional skills (when Judo is taught correctly). This aids in enhancing confidence, perseverance, emotional resilience & respect for self and for others.
- and we offer no obligation introductory lessons.
